Update: Colon and the Athletics have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, the team's official twitter reports.
Recommendation: Colon was surprisingly effective for the A's last year until his campaign was prematurely ended by a positive testosterone test and the resulting suspension. There are only five games left on the suspension, so it shouldn't affect Colon's value for the 2013 season, although one has to wonder if he's still capable of pitching well without PEDs. Terms of the deal haven't been officially released yet, but we can't imagine that the A's would commit much to an overweight 39-year-old pitcher coming off of a PED suspension. Colon could end up in the starting rotation, although we suspect that he'll have to earn that spot, and won't be handed anything.
