CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Chris Horton scored 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had a career-high eight blocks to lead Austin Peay to an 81-68 conference opening win over University of Tennessee-Martin on Thursday night.
The Governors (7-8, 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference) opened an early lead with a 13-3 run sparked by a Horton dunk midway through the first half and never let their advantage drop below nine points after the break.
Zavion Williams also contributed 16 points, Will Triggs and Travis Betran added 15 apiece, and Demarius Smith had 11.
UT-Martin (5-12, 0-2 OVC) fell behind early but pulled to within three points in the first half on a Dee Oldham layup that made it 24-21 before Austin Peay scored nine unanswered points to build a 39-30 advantage at the break and continued to pull away in the second half.
Myles Taylor led the Skyhawks with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
