Austin Peay fans went nuts after nation's longest losing streak snapped (Video)

Austin Peay has the best cheer in college athletics, but APSU fans haven’t had much to cheer about in football over the past few years.

Until Saturday.

APSU entered the day with a 29-game losing streak, the longest in Division I football. It came to an end in emphatic fashion with the Governors dismantling Morehead State 69-13.

It was the program’s first victory since Oct. 11, 2014 and just its second in its last 46 games, so APSU fans had every right to storm the field, tear down the goalpost and go nuts.

The Governors hung tough against FBS opponents Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) in their first two games of the season, so it looked like a win would be right around the corner once they entered FCS play. That certainly came to fruition as APSU set an Ohio Valley Conference record with 10 rushing touchdowns in the win.

Coach Will Healy received a Gatorade bath as the final seconds ticked off the clock before embracing senior defensive back Malik Boynton.

“There is nothing that makes me feel better about what we do as coaches than sharing some of those embraces with kids like Malik that have worked so hard,” Healy said after the game. “Knowing what these seniors have been through and seeing them grow, tonight was truly amazing.”

Let’s go Peay.
