NEW YORK (AP) -- Auld Alliance won the $77,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Belmont Park in her debut her U.S. debut Wednesday, beating Precarious by a nose.
The Irish-bred 4-year-old, owned by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, went 1 for 6 in England before joining Graham Motion's barn this season. John Velazquez was aboard for her first race since last July. The time was 2:05.29 for 1 1/4 miles on the firm turf course.
Auld Alliance paid $6.40, $3.30 and $2.80. Precarious returned $3.30 and $2.40, and Glorious Chant paid $4.70 to show.
