The Oakland Athletics expect Jed Lowrie to be re-activated for the team's game against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, September 1, in a story first reported by the San Francisco Chroncile's Susan Slusser.

Lowrie will begin a brief rehabilitation assignment with the Sacramento River Cats on August 30. The shortstop has been on the disabled list since August 14 with a fractured right index finger that made it painful for him to grip the ball and field it.

Lowrie's relatively impressive offensive production on both sides of the plate has been sorely missed by this A's team, especially against left-handed pitchers:

The timing of Jed Lowrie's activation will technically allow Andy Parrino to be postseason-eligible without using an injury replacement, though it is doubtful he will be considered for the postseason roster with Lowrie's return.
