Former All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas is close to signing a one-year deal to play in China.
Yahoo!Sports reported Monday that Arenas will play with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Stephon Marbury and Tracy McGrady are among the former NBA players currently playing in China.
Arenas was suspended more much of the 2009-10 season after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room after a gambling dispute with then-teammate Javaris Crittenton.
Arenas, an 11-year NBA veteran, scored nearly 30 points per game in 2005-06 for Washington. He averaged 20.7 points, 5.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game for his career and made nearly $120 million.
Knee problems slowed Arenas down in recent years. The 30-year-old spent last season on the Memphis Grizzlies' bench, averaging just 4.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17 games.
