Anthony Davis scores 23, Pelicans sneak by Celtics

The Boston Celtics shot just 31-89 (34.8%) from the field, including 7-29 (24.1%) from behind the arc, as they fell to the New Orleans Pelicans, 95-92. New Orleans (15-16) gets one in the win column after losing to Minnesota on Wednesday.

Anthony Davis put up 23 points on 9-12 shooting from the field and 5-8 from the free throw line, in a good performance. Other top performers for New Orleans were Tyreke Evans with 16 points and 8 rebounds, and Ryan Anderson with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Despite the loss, Avery Bradley scored 22 points for Boston on 7-15 shooting, including 4-6 from behind the arc. Jared Sullinger chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds.

In addition to 24.1% from 3-point range, the Celtics tallied an eFG% of just 38.8%. They are 1-6 on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Pelicans, conversely, are undefeated (3-0) when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.

Boston (13-20) has now lost three straight contests.

Coming up next, the Pelicans play the Indiana Pacers, who are 25-6 on the year. The Celtics match up with the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently 25-7 this season. The Pelicans are 0-1 versus Indiana this season.
