CLEVELAND -- The free-falling Cleveland Indians self-destructed by committing four errors in handing a 7-2 victory to the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.
The loss was Cleveland's sixth in a row.
C.J. Wilson pitched into the sixth inning to get the win for the Angels. Wilson (12-6) gave up two runs and seven hits.
Leading 3-2, the Angels blew the game open with a four-run eighth inning that was aided by two Cleveland errors and a wild pitch. Chris Nelson and Grant Green had RBI singles as the Angels sent 10 men to the plate in the inning.
Cleveland cut the Angels' 3-1 lead to 3-2 in the sixth when the Indians knocked Wilson out of the game. Yan Gomes led off the inning with a single and went to second on a one-out single by Drew Stubbs.
Michael Bourn followed with the Indians' third single of the inning, scoring Gomes and putting runners at first and third with one out.
Angels reliever Mike Scioscia went to his bullpen and reliever Michael Kohn retired Nick Swisher on a popout to second. Buddy Boshers, in his major league debut, struck out Jason Kipnis to end the inning.
Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez (8-7) departed in the seventh when the Angels had runners at first and second with one out but failed to score.
In 6 1/3 innings, Jimenez, who has never beaten the Angels, gave up three runs (two earned) and five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. In four career starts against the Angels, Jimenez is 0-4 with a 6.12 ERA.
Cleveland took a 1-0 lead in the second when Gomes doubled with one out. Gomes went to third on a single by Mike Aviles and scored on an infield single by Stubbs.
The Angels tied it with a run in the third. Chris Iannetta led off with a single and went to third on a double by J.B. Shuck. Iannetta then scored when Mike Trout grounded into a forceout.
The Angels took the lead by scoring two runs in the fifth thanks to an error by Jimenez.
Iannetta walked to start the inning. Grant Green attempted a sacrifice bunt. Jimenez fielded it and threw wildly to first for an error, moving Ianetta to third and Green to second. Iannetta then scored on a sacrifice fly by Shuck and Green scored on a sacrifice fly by Kole Calhoun.
Notes: LHP Scott Kazmir will be replaced by RHP Carlos Carrasco for at least one turn through the Indians' rotation. Manager Terry Francona said Carrasco will start in place of Kazmir on Wednesday in Minnesota. Kazmir said he is going through a dead arm period. ... Former Indians slugger Rocky Colavito, on his 80th birthday, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. ... The Angels placed 2B Howie Kendrick on the disabled list with a hyperextended left knee. ... Boshers was recalled from Class AAA Salt Lake to take the roster spot created when the Angels placed Kendrick on the disabled list.
