John Schoof scored 27 points as American won convincingly over Navy, 72-49 Wednesday at the Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.
The Eagles shot 45.1 percent overall (23 of 51), 38.5 percent on 3-point attempts (10 of 26). The Midshipmen made just 36.4 percent of their shots (20 of 55), and just four of 16 from behind the 3-point arc.
Schoof's points came on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including an eye-popping 8-of-10 on 3-pointers. Troy Wroblicky added nine points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles (7-12, 2-2 Patriot League).
The Midshipmen (7-13, 1-3) were led by Kendall Knorr's 11 points. No other Navy player reached double figures.
Navy kept the game close in the first half, trailing by just one with 12:27 to go, but American led 33-23 at halftime.
Leading 39-28 with 15:50 remaining, the Eagles went on an 11-1 run over the next four minutes to take a 21-point lead. The Midshipmen weren't able to get any closer than 18 the rest of the way.
The Eagles outrebounded the Midshipmen 44-29.
American continues league play Saturday at Army, while Navy plays host to Colgate on Saturday.
