Algeria will face Ethiopia in the first round of the 2016 African Women’s Championship qualifier billed for March.

The Lady Fennecs were billed to face Togo in the preliminary round, but with west African team pulling out, Azzedine Chih’s women will try Ethiopia for size in their quest to qualify for their fifth AWC.

The first leg will take place in Algiers on Sunday, 6 March 2016 with the return leg in Ethiopia a fortnight later.

The winner will face either Kenya or DR Congo at the second round.

The Confederation of African Football had sanctioned the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) for withdrawing its women’s national team qualifying for the African Cup of Nations playoffs.

Also, the Togolese women will miss the 2018 edition of the competition in 2018.

The final tournament will be held in Cameroon from 19 November to 3 December 2016 in the cities of Yaounde and Limbe.
