Alabama senior wide receiver Kenny Bell announced Tuesday on Twitter that he will no longer play for the Crimson Tide.
"I've made so many memories here @ Alabama but some things you gotta let go," he tweeted. " ... it's been a nice run but I'm hanging up my cleats."
According to Al.com, Bell practiced with the team on Monday. A school spokesman early Tuesday afternoon would not confirm Bell's departure.
Bell did not catch a pass in Alabama's season-opening 35-10 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday. At the end of last season, he sustained a broken leg in the game against Auburn and missed the SEC and national championship games.
"Salute to my team y'all keep grinding and win that championship," he tweeted. " ... time too focus on my responsibilities MY kiDS."
Bell caught 17 passes for 431 yards and three touchdowns last year.
" ... I know I'm going to lose so many friends and followers and get more negative talk from people but truth is I Dnt care," he also tweeted.
Bell earned his undergraduate degree last December.
