U.S. Marshals on Friday arrested the fugitive father of highly touted Alabama recruit Reuben Foster.
Danny Foster escaped from prison in 1996 after being indicted on charges of shooting his wife and his 18-month-old son Reuben in 1995. The woman, Inita Berry Paige, survived and his son was ranked the top high school inside linebacker this year.
Danny Foster was arrested in Randolph County, Ala., in 1995. CBSMiami reported Foster fled to California where he was recaptured and extradited back to Randolph County to serve a 30-year sentence for the shootings.
But Foster escaped again in 1996 and his whereabouts were unknown until this week.
U.S. Marshals found new information about Danny Foster's identity and they alerted Fort Lauderdale deputies who arrested Foster at a construction site on Friday.
Foster, 41, had a Florida driver's license under a false name and had been living in Dania Beach, Fla., trailer park.
It was not clear if the elder Foster had any contact with his son during the past 16 years.
Reuben Foster committed to play football at Alabama for a second time Monday. He made national headlines for getting an Auburn tattoo one day after flipping from Alabama to Auburn.
The U.S. Marshals office said Danny Foster will be extradited to Alabama to serve out the rest of his prison sentence and that he is also wanted for questioning in an Alabama homicide that occurred in 1997.
