Al Horford records double-double, Hawks defeat Kings
Jeff Teague put up 18 points and registered 15 assists and 8 rebounds in a tremendous all-around performance to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a victory over the Sacramento Kings, 124-107. The Hawks took quality shots, finishing 47-81 (58.0%) from the field, including 15-25 (60.0%) from beyond the arc. Atlanta (14-12) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
Teague shot 6-11 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. Other top contributors for Atlanta included Al Horford with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Paul Millsap with 14 points and 8 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins had another strong game for Sacramento in the loss, scoring 28 points on 10-20 shooting from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line. He also registered 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Isaiah Thomas contributed 20 points and 10 assists and Ben McLemore finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Along with their eFG% of 67.3%, the Hawks connected at a rate of 60.0% from 3-point range. On the season, they are 3-1 when they record marks above 55% and 40% in those respective categories. Conversely, the Kings are winless (0-7) when allowing their opponents to reach those percentages.
This drops Sacramento (7-17) to 0-2 against Atlanta on the year.
Coming up, the Hawks take on the Utah Jazz, who are 7-21 on the season. The Kings go up against the Miami Heat, currently sitting at 19-6 this year.
