The Vikings are keeping up their plan to rest Adrian Peterson for the whole preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson continues to see a light workload throughout August. The Vikings will not be playing him in Saturday's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, and are believed to be holding him out of the entire exhibition season.
Peterson does not have any injury and is well removed from his 2012 ACL tear, but the Vikings are being cautious with their 29-year-old workhorse back. Peterson had another top-tier season in 2013, rushing for 1,266 yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Fantasy impact: Nothing to worry about here. Peterson is in the conversation with Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy and Matt Forte as the top four overall fantasy players. He checks in at No. 3 in SB Nation's running back rankings. If there's one knock against Peterson, it's his relative lack of receptions, so PPR owners can feel free to bump McCoy and Charles ahead of him. Other than that, 2014 is looking like business as usual for Peterson with Norv Turner now running the offense.
