Alabama has landed five-star linebacker prospect Rashaan Evans.

The Auburn High School star announced on Wednesday that he chose the Crimson Tide over his hometown team.

Evans is rated the nation's top outside linebacker by Rivals.com and Scout.com and had 17 sacks as a senior.

It's the second straight year a top-rated Auburn High linebacker signed with Alabama. Last year it was Reuben Foster.

The Tide is expected to have the nation's No. 1 recruiting class.

About the time of his announcement, a link to Evans bio on Auburn's web site surfaced on social media. Auburn spokesman Kirk Sampson says it wasn't a premature post and never appeared on the Web site, but was ''hidden by code in anticipation of signing day.''
