There's a whole lot of Topanga and Cory on the way!
"Girl Meets World" has received a full season pickup, according to series stars Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage, who announced the news on Twitter.
"Got the great news tonight that #GirlMeetsWorld was picked up for 8 more episodes - a total of 21!" Danielle, who reprises her "Boy Meets World" role of Topanga Lawrence (now Matthews) on the upcoming Disney Channel show, Tweeted on Tuesday. "Can't wait for everyone to see them all."
Ben, who reprises his role of Cory Matthews on "GMW," also Tweeted about the pickup.
"We've been picked up for 8 more episodes. It's a joy revisiting these characters and meeting the world as a dad," he wrote on Thursday night.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com , the highly-anticipated spinoff to the '90s series "Boy Meets World" was picked up by the network in June 2013.
"'Boy Meets World' and its story of adolescent self-discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens," Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement at the time. "In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter Riley Matthews in 'Girl Meets World' and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans."
Set in New York City, the new comedy series aims to stay true to the funny, heartfelt tone of "Boy Meets World" -- only this time, the stories will be told from Cory and Topanga's tween daughter's perspective as she navigates Junior High.
Rowan Blanchard will star as the couple's curious and bright 7th grade daughter, Riley Matthews; the show will also feature Sabrina Carpenter as Riley's quick-witted pal Maya.
Riley and Maya's plans for a carefree year will be slightly modified under the watchful eyes of Cory, who's also a faculty member at their school (and their new History teacher) and Topanga, who owns a trendy afterschool hangout that specializes in pudding.
