Crop comments: The Cougars continue on the unbeaten path and continue to sweep their opponents. Lake took home the Lancer Invitational title Sept. 9 and followed that with a 3-0 victory over Magnificat to conclude yet another perfect week. ... The Lancers finished fourth in their home Invitational and kept their contest with St. Joseph Academy close throughout. ... Mentor added a pair of wins as it beat North in four sets and swept Strongsville. Their biggest conference test comes Sept. 14 as they travel to Medina. ... While Kenston finished sixth in the Lancer Invitational, it did manage to keep its losses close and recorded a win over Huron. The Bombers then followed up with sweeps of Kirtland and Riverside. ... Chardon was unable to complete a comeback against North. The Hilltoppers look to respond with a win over Nordonia on Sept. 13. ... After a sweep of VASJ and a four-set win over Midview, Riverside dropped its conference opener against Kenston. The Beavers look to pick up their first conference win when they travel to North on Sept. 14. ... After they were swept by Lake Catholic, NDCL rebounded with a five-set victory over Walsh Jesuit. The Lions look to carry that momentum into another Crown conference match with Beaumont on Sept. 14. ...The Rangers bounced back from their loss to the Cardinals with a four-set victory over Normandy and a five-set win over Chardon to start the conference slate. ... South picked up their first conference win over Mayfield in four sets in the competitive WRC. The Rebels now prepare for a tri against Brush and Euclid on Sept. 16. ... After a season-opening loss, Hawken has only dropped one set since and started CVC play off with a sweep over West Geauga. The Hawks now turn their attention to a road contest with Orange on Sept. 14.
