It's encouraging to see Gilmour has found its footing a bit more after dispatching Shaker (3-1) and Walsh Jesuit (4-1) to start the new calendar year. ... Mentor took care of Benedictine and Olmsted Falls in decisive fashion in GCHSHL Red play. ... What a statement weekend for Kenston. After a thrilling 6-5 overtime result over Strongsville, the Bombers also recorded victories over an upper-division foe in Amherst (5-1) and fellow White North pacesetter CVCA (5-3). ... Benedictine hung around for about 1 1/2 periods against Mentor before the Cardinals broke it wide open. The Bengals will look for better fortune in MLK weekend tournament action.
