Mets activate Kevin Pillar just 2 weeks after he was hit in face by a 94 mph fastball

Only two weeks after he was drilled in the face by a 94 mph fastball, New York Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar is back.

The Mets officially activated Pillar off of the 10-day injured list on Monday.

Kevin Pillar suffered multiple nasal fractures

Pillar was hit in the face by a 94 mph fastball that got away from Atlanta Braves pitcher Jacob Webb on May 17.

Though the scene was a scary one and blood was seen pouring out of Pillar’s nose into the dirt, he amazingly got up and walked off the field on his own.

He suffered multiple nasal fractures and underwent surgery days later.

Pillar's recovery, though, has clearly gone extremely well.

“He’s just looked better and better each day,” Mets manager Luis Rojas said on Saturday, via the New York Post. “You know how this guy is. Every day, he’s like, ‘Put me in.’ He’s asking if he’s in the lineup every day if we need something. He’s had that same attitude toward the ramp-up of activities, even after the surgery. So he’s in a good place right now with that.”

Pillar is in his first season with the Mets after spending last season with both the Boston Red Sox and the Colorado Rockies. He has 19 hits and two home runs in 77 at bats.

The Mets are set to kick off a three game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix on Monday night before a four game stint against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.
