Nets re-sign guard Harris, add big man Davis

The Brooklyn Nets kept their best long-range shooter, guard Joe Harris, early Sunday, and they also picked up frontcourt depth with well-traveled Ed Davis, most recently of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Harris will finalize a two-year, $16 million contract when signings of unrestricted free agents are permitted starting Friday, according to numerous sources. Davis agreed to a one-year, $4.4 million contract, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who cited league sources.

Harris, 26, just completed his fourth year in the league, averaging 10.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game in just over 25 minutes. He raised his 3-point accuracy to a career-best 41.9 percent in his second season with the Nets.

The unrestricted free agent was reportedly highly sought by the Indiana Pacers as well.

Harris played two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who chose him in the second round in the 2014 draft out of Virginia.

The 6-foot-10 Davis, 29, is coming off his third season with the Blazers, in which he played 78 games. In just under 19 minutes a game, he averaged 5.3 points and 7.4 rebounds.

In eight seasons, he has averaged 20.6 minutes, 6.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He is being signed under a midlevel exception.

The Nets will be Davis' fifth NBA team. He played his first 2 1/2 seasons with the Toronto Raptors, who selected him with the 13th pick overall in the 2010 draft.
