Nets big man Nic Claxton is expected to miss the next week to 10 days with a non-COVID-related illness.

Head coach Steve Nash spoke to reporters on Sunday prior to the team's game against the Detroit Pistons to update Claxton's status.

“Nic is going to be out a little bit," Nash said. "He’s not feeling well. Nothing to be concerned with but I don’t think he’s going to be back in the next week or 10 days. Just an illness, but it’s nothing major or nothing we’re overly concerned with. It’s just a little more severe illness than we thought initially and I think he’ll miss a little more time.”

Claxton hasn't played since Oct. 25 against the Washington Wizards. Over four games this season, he's averaging 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds with a block per game while averaging 19.0 minutes of action.

Claxton has played in 51 games over three seasons, averaging 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game. He's shown his skill set on defense as shot-blocker, and has found a groove on offense with James Harden on the pick and roll.

He started three of the four games he's played in this season, and appeared to be settling into the starting center role. Nash has turned to starting Blake Griffin and giving LaMarcus Aldridge big minutes off the bench.
