Steve Nash has reunited with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn.

The Nets hired Nash as their next head coach on Thursday morning, the team officially announced on Twitter.

Nash was hired by the Warriors as a player development consultant before the 2015-16 season. Warriors superstar Steph Curry went on to win the first unanimous NBA MVP award in league history that season. Durant joined Golden State the next season.

Durant and Nash often times were seen working one-on-one at Warriors practices when Nash, who played college basketball at Santa Clara University, was in the Bay Area. Nash was an assistant all three years Durant was a Warrior when KD won back-to-back Finals MVP awards and dominated for Golden State.

Nash also joined the "Bill Simmons Podcast" last September and explained by Durant might have left the Warriors for Brooklyn in free agency.

"He wanted something higher, bigger [when he left OKC for the Warriors]. He wanted to experience something different where he would be pushed in new ways, and it's kind of the same thing that's happening now," Nash said. "... I think him constantly seeking a new challenge and new opportunity and new experience, there's a lot of layers to him.

"I think he loves to explore."

Now the two can explore together as Nets in Nash's first year ever as a head coach, and Durant's first year with the team on the court after rehabbing all this season.
