Nets’ GM Sean Marks receives 10th-most votes for 2023 NBA EOTY award

Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks received the 10th-most votes in the 2022-23 NBA Executive of the Year award that was given to Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair, the NBA announced on Wednesday. In terms of total points, Marks received seven. That put him just behind Memphis Grizzlies executive Zach Kleiman and just ahead of Rob Pelinka of the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Marks did not receive a lot of votes for the award, he did receive one first-place vote. That placed him among seven executives on the ballot that received at least one first-place vote. Marks has had an uneven season as he started the season with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn, but ended this season with both of those players with different teams.

Outside of the franchise-altering trades of Durant and Irving, Marks made some positive moves over the course of this season. For starters, in the offseason, Marks traded a 2023 first-round pick for forward Royce O’Neale, who made quite an impact for the Nets this season. As a result of the Durant and Irving trades, Marks recovered well by acquiring wings Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson to pair starting center Nic Claxton for the foreseeable future.
