Nets’ Dennis Smith Jr. expects to play in season opener against Cavs
The Brooklyn Nets begin their 2023-24 season at Barclays Center on Wednesday against a Cleveland Cavaliers team who may be missing some key pieces in the contest. Unlike Cleveland, the Nets have most of its players available to play including one is looking to make an impact whenever he steps foot on a basketball court.
Dennis Smith Jr., who has missed some time with an ankle sprain, is off of the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Cavaliers. According to Evan Barnes of Newsday, Smith said that he’s ready to play and is expecting to see some floor time for Brooklyn.
While it is good news that Smith is ready to go for the home opener, it is important to note the reason that he expects to play despite recently getting over his ankle injury. Smith said at shootaround that he’s one of the best “in the world” defending the ball at the point of attack and that he knows how important his role is to the Nets’ defense.
Wednesday’s game against the Cavaliers will be shown on YES Network and the game starts at 7:30 PM EDT.
At shootaround, Dennis Smith Jr said he’s ready to play and he’s expecting to tonight for the #Nets. Didn’t know if he’s gonna be on a minutes limit coming off a sprained ankle but he just wants to compete and play hard.
