On Saturday afternoon, the third ranked Tennessee Volunteers baseball team (28-7, 9-4) squared off against the second ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (27-5, 10-3) in a battle for state supremacy. After Vanderbilt took game one of the series Friday night by a 5-0 score, Tennessee looked to even up the series in a bid to setup a series-deciding game three Sunday. For the Volunteers, Will Heflin took to the mound to fend off the talented Commodores; the lefty impressed all day long.
Everybody said that the Vanderbilt Commodores needed to add a big man to the roster for the 2021-22 season. Consider said big man added. Vanderbilt scored a commitment from Minnesota transfer Liam Robbins on Monday.
Vanderbilt has fired women's basketball coach Stephanie White after five seasons and a 46-83 record. Athletic director Candice Lee announced Tuesday that White will not return. Lee thanked White and her staff for helping the players navigate the challenges during the coronavirus pandemic over the past year.
