San Jose State was hit as hard as any team in the Mountain West Conference by the departure of their recent graduating class. In one offseason, the Spartans bid adieu to impact players such as quarterback Josh Love, running back DeJon Packer, linebackers Ethan Aguayo and Jesse Osuna and lineman Troy Kowalski, among others. Even with the exit of those familiar faces, the Spartans will feature an array of intriguing players, both new and old alike.
Stanford and San Jose State’s football teams got the clearance they have been seeking to return to their respective campuses to prepare for the 2020 football season. Public health officials announced Tuesday that Santa Clara County moved into the orange, or moderate, tier in the state’s risk reduction order to pave the way for regular football practices. The county had placed strict guidelines on activities such as football to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The Mountain West Conference announced the 2020-2021 women’s basketball 18-game conference schedule earlier Oct. 9. San Diego State begins the conference slate with four of their first five games at Viejas Arena, beginning with Air Force on New Year’s Eve. The lone road matchup is against San José State on Jan. 6.
