    Surprise phone call brings Mark Hagen back to Purdue football

    He had been in Austin, Texas for less than a year after leaving Indiana as the program’s co-offensive coordinator and defensive line coach for four seasons. It took a lot to pull Hagen away from the Hoosiers, his alma mater and his home state but he welcomed the opportunity to work for Tom Herman and the Longhorns. As Hagen was concentrating on soccer, news broke that Texas had fired Herman.

Ryan Wallace, who coached tight ends the last two seasons, is still helping but his title has changed to offensive and special teams assistant and is no longer considered a full-time assistant.
