Notre Dame gets a brief reprieve from a monster early schedule Wednesday night when it hosts Western Michigan in a non-conference basketball game. The game will serve as the home opener for the Fighting Irish (0-1), who have never lost their first home game of the season under coach Mike Brey, going 20-0. Wednesday's matchup pits foes that have not met since the 1992 National Invitation Tournament in a game won by the Fighting Irish, 63-56.
Aaron Henry withdrew from the NBA draft to work on his craft in college. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is glad he did. Henry had 14 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three assists to help the 13th-ranked Spartans beat Notre Dame 80-70 on Saturday night.
