After watching a three-run lead in the fifth inning disappear Friday, the pesky Warhawks rebounded to spoil UL’s senior day festivities in the final home game at Lamson Park this season Saturday with a 2-1 upset win over the Cajuns. The Sun Belt Conference champion Cajuns dropped to 40-10 overall and 21-3 in league play, while ULM ended the regular season 16-30 and 6-15. "I guess the first thing I should say is how much we appreciate this senior class," UL coach Gerry Glasco said.
The fight was still there, but the execution at times wasn't again for the UL Ragin' Cajuns. ULM's Mason Holt smashed a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the ninth to give the visiting Warhawks a 7-6 lead over the Cajuns in a rare non-conference game between two Sun Belt Conference opponents. "We left 11 on base," UL coach Matt Deggs said of UL's latest heartbreaking loss.
