Give me my choice of any college wide receiver in America this fall, and I'd take Notre Dame's Michael Floyd in less than a heartbeat for his freakish wingspan and body control on deep balls, which has proven nigh uncoverable the last two years when he's actually healthy. He could easily be a high first-rounder next April.
But for the company softball team? Next to Irish pitcher Jody Valdivia, Floyd and tight end Mike Ragone are in a depressing pas de deux for Mr. Irrelevant (sorry about the music):
Presumably Floyd's former partner in receiving terror, Golden Tate, would have fared somewhat better. Then again, I probably could have fared better, if only because my burgeoning blogger physique dramatically increases the opportunity to be hit by a pitch. Pop-Tarts = Victory, Mike.
