Morehead St. tops SE Missouri 79-67

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP)—Leon Buchanan scored a season-high 26 points, including a career-best 18 of 19 free throws, to lead Morehead State to a 79-67 win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday.

Buchanan also had eight rebounds for the Eagles (16-11, 12-3 Ohio Valley Conference), who remain in first place in the league.

Kenneth Faried had his 17th double-double of the season, with 20 points and 18 rebounds for Morehead State, which has won three in a row. Maze Stallworth had 12 points and Demonte Harper added 10 for the Eagles.

Southeast Missouri (3-23, 0-15), which dropped its 15th straight game, was led by Kenard Moore with 27 points and Jaycen Herring with 25 points, six assists and three blocked shots.

The Eagles led by as many as 15 points in the first half and 27-22 at the break. The Redhawks pulled within 60-55 with 5:26 left, but could get no closer.
