Tenn.-Martin beats Eastern Illinois 65-51

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP)—Lester Hudson scored 19 of his 29 points in the second half to lead Tennessee-Martin to its sixth straight victory, a 65-51 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night.

The Skyhawks (14-6, 7-3 Ohio Valley Conference), who have won 12 of their last 13 games, jumped out to an early lead at 16-9. The Panthers then used a 19-6 run to pull ahead with 3:20 left in the half and held on to lead 31-30 at halftime.

Eastern Illinois (8-11, 5-4) increased its margin to six points, but Tennessee-Martin put together a 19-2 run—sparked by Hudson’s 13 points—to surge ahead 49-38 with 8:48 left.

The Panthers hit 11 of 20 shots (55 percent) in the first half, but only 8 of 25 shots (32 percent) in the second.

Marquis Weddle added 12 points for Tennessee-Martin.

Tyler Laser, who led the Panthers with 21 points, was the only player to score in double figures.
