NCAA Wrestling Championship in Kansas City: Location, dates and more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship is coming to Kansas City this week.

NCAA wrestling will take over the T-Mobile Center and Kansas City Convention Center from Thursday until Saturday. Visit KC estimates the event will bring $20.4 million to the city and local businesses.

Kansas gets 4th seed in Midwest Region for NCAA Tournament

The best wrestlers in the nation will compete head-to-head to decide which school and individuals can take home national championship hardware.

The tournament will consist of 33 competitors throughout 10 different weight classes. Each weight class will crown a national champion and whichever college earns the most points throughout the competition will decide a team national champion.

Wrestlers must go undefeated in five, seven-minute matches over three days to earn a national title. The championship round will take place on Saturday evening.


All six sessions will happen in the T-Mobile Center and be broadcast across ESPNU and ESPN.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Days 1 and 2 and 8:30 a.m. on Day 3. For evening sessions, doors open at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Saturday, 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

  • Session 1/First Round: Thursday at 11 a.m. – ESPNU

  • Session 2/Second Round: Thursday at 6 p.m. – ESPN

  • Session 3/Quarterfinals: Friday at 11 a.m. – ESPNU

  • Session 4/Semifinals: Friday at 7 p.m. – ESPN

  • Session 5/Medal Round: Saturday at 10 a.m. – ESPNU

  • Session 6/Finals: Saturday at 6 p.m. – ESPN

K-State men’s basketball left out of NCAA tournament

There will be an NCAA Fan Festival at the Kansas City Convention Center each afternoon of the national championship. Fans can get autographs, attend coaches’ clinics and enjoy fan experience activities. That schedule is listed below:

  • Thursday 2-5 p.m.

  • Friday 2-6 p.m.

  • Saturday 12:30-5 p.m.


Grand Boulevard (between 13th and 14th streets), Walnut Street (between 13th Street and Truman Road N.) and 14th Street (between Walnut Street and Grand Boulevard) will all be closed from 5 a.m. Thursday until 10 a.m. Sunday.
