Three-star Tyler Baker-Williams will play defense for NC State, but he continues to shine on offense for Southeast Raleigh. The difference between earlier games and the Bulldogs’ 54-41 win at Wendell (N.C.) East Wake High was that Baker-Williams did it running the football, carrying seven times for 118 yards in the win. Baker-Williams also blocked an extra point.

Southeast Raleigh is 3-2, and through five games Baker-Williams has caught 13 passes for 299 yards and two scores, and rushed 15 times for 208 yards.

Three-star receiver Devin Carter continues to make the most of his opportunities for Clayton (N.C.) High. He caught three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown and ran once for a seven-yard score to help the Comets remain undefeated in five games with a 28-10 home win over Wilson (N.C.) Fike High.

For the season, Carter has caught 12 passes for 283 yards and four scores, and rushed eight times for 70 yards and two additional touchdowns.

Three-star safety Malik Dunlap and Charlotte Harding led most of the game against state power and city-rival Mallard Creek High, but a 9-3 lead with two minutes left in the third quarter turned into a 30-9 defeat thanks to a bad snap, three turnovers and one big play from Mallard Creek’s offense. It was Harding’s first loss of the season in five games.

Dunlap’s brother, junior running back Quavaris Crouch, rushed for 226 yards and a score in the defeat. Head coach Dave Doeren and tight ends/fullbacks coach Eddie Faulkner were at the game for NC State. So were coaches from Georgia and Florida State.

The Wolfpacker was there and will have highlights from the contest.

Kicker Christopher Dunn nailed a 48-yard field goal in his lone attempt of the game and made 6 of 7 extra points to help Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson crush Welcome (N.C.) East Davidson High on the road, 51-0. North Davidson improved to 3-1 and is ranked No. 4 in the Class 2A rankings by MaxPreps.com.

Four-star quarterback Devin Leary completed 15 of 25 passes for 252 yards and a pair of touchdowns with one pick to help Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek High improve its record to 3-0 with a 35-28 home win over Marlton (N.J.) Cherokee High.

On the season, Leary has completed 46 of 74 passes (62.6 percent) for 785 yards and seven touchdowns with two picks, and rushed 16 times for 118 yards.

Another game, another big effort for four-star running back commit Ricky Person of Wake Forest (N.C.) Heritage High. Person ran 15 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns, and caught a pair of passes for 17 yards, to help Heritage roll to a 49-10 home win over Durham (N.C.) Jordan.

Heritage improved to 5-0. Entering the contest it was ranked No. 2 in the state’s 4-A classification by MaxPreps.com. This season, Person has rushed 98 times for 985 yards and 15 scores, and caught nine passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.
