Perhaps the biggest X-factor this year for the Knicks will be Quentin Grimes, the third-year man who emerged as a starter-quality 3-and-D wing last season.
Today at The Athletic, their writer roundtable previewed the upcoming season for the Atlantic Division. The Knicks went 47-35 and placed third in their group, behind the Celtics (57-25) and 76ers (54-28), and ahead of the Nets (45-37) and Toronto (41-41). Last season, New York finished fifth in the Eastern Conference, with two division rivals (Boston, Philly) ahead of them.
The New York Knicks made only a few moves this offseason, and one didn't include addressing the team's surplus of guards. After trading Obi Toppin and signing Donte DiVincenzo to a deal in free agency, it was thought the Knicks were preparing to make another move or two, but the roster remains the same. Quentin Grimes took Evan Fournier's starting shooting guard spot soon after the 2022-23 season began, and it's a role he held until Tom Thibodeau temporarily replaced him with Josh Hart in the playoffs. Looking at the Knicks' depth at guard, should Thibodeau opt to shake things up with the addition of DiVincenzo?
