  • Jaylen Brown (illness) is officially questionable for Friday's game vs. the Hawks.
Advice: An illness has spread in Boston's locker room and Brown could end up as a game-time decision. If he can't suit up, expect Marcus Smart and Semi Ojeleye to once again earn more playing time -- not a ton, though, since Gordon Hayward (illness) appears ready to return on Friday.

  • Brown (illness) is questionable for Friday after he did not play on Wednesday.
Advice: Brown recently missed three games due to a lower back bruise, then averaged 21 points and 5 rebounds in the next three contests while going 7 of 12 from 3-point range.

  • Jaylen Brown (illness) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game in Washington.
Advice: This is really unfortunate, as Brown had been rolling over the past three games and was headed for a favorable matchup with the Wizards. With him out, Marcus Smart and Semi Ojeleye will have the opportunity for more minutes and Terry Rozier will be more involved with the second unit. The Celtics play again on Friday against the Hawks, and for now, we'll be considering Brown questionable for that one.

  • Jaylen Brown scored 19 points Monday, going 6 of 16 from the field, as the Boston Celtics defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 113-100. Brown pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists, tallying a plus-minus of +11 in his 24:43 on the floor. He added one block. Brown went 4 of 7 from 3-point range.

  • Jaylen Brown scored 19 points (6-of-16 FG, 3-of-4 FT) with seven rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and four 3-pointers in 24 minutes Monday against the Pelicans.
Advice: While Brown wasn't able to extend his run of games with at least 20 points to three, he did manage to knock down a season-high four three-pointers (on seven attempts). The third-year wing, who entered Monday shooting just 27.5% from three this season, has made seven of his last ten attempts from beyond the arc. If Brown can continue on that path, he becomes an even tougher matchup for opponents to deal with and his fantasy value increases as well.

  • Jaylen Brown scored a season-high 23 points (8-of-11 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with five rebounds three assists, two steals, and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday.
Advice: Brown has now scored 20+ in two straight games, something he hadn't done at all before the last game. Coincidentally, he's been used off the bench in each game and has responded well. He's played better without Kyrie Irving last year, which could explain his success off the bench. While being used as a reserve might not hurt his value, the Celtics' depth will. He's still worth a look in deeper leagues if available.

  • Jaylen Brown scored 23 points Saturday, going 8 of 11 from the field, as the Boston Celtics topped the Chicago Bulls 133-77. Brown grabbed five rebounds and had three assists, tallying a plus-minus of +26 in his 28:29 on the floor. He added two steals. Brown went 3 of 3 from behind the arc.

  • Jaylen Brown (tailbone) will play on Thursday.
Advice: He's not on the injury report and has been a full participant at the past two practices, so he should be good to go for his usual minutes tonight. He is expected to come off the bench, so it'll be interesting to see how that affects Gordon Hayward (who is coming off a 30-point game), and his return to the rotation will likely have a negative effect on Marcus Smart.

  • Brown (lower back bruise) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Knicks.
Advice: The former No. 3 overall pick has been out since landing hard on his back in Dallas on Nov. 24. Brown, who won't start but also won't be on a minutes restriction, is averaging 11.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19 games.

  • Jaylen Brown thrived in his return against the Knicks on Thursday, making 7-of-10 from the field for a season-high 21 points with three rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 25 minutes off the bench.
Advice: While missing the last week, Brown had to answer questions about coming off the bench, and he responded very well for his first 20-point night of the year. Brown played some of his best ball last season when Kyrie Irving was out and he saw an increased usage rate, so the move to the bench could be a positive for him. Still, he'll have to battle coach Brad Stevens' deep rotation and his fantasy upside isn't high anyway, so he's really just a lukewarm pickup.
