WOWT) - After one year with the Huskers, guard Bryce McGowens was picked in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, ultimately landing with the Charlotte Hornets via a trade. Picked 40th overall, McGowens was the Huskers’ highest draft pick since Tyronn Lue was taken 23rd overall in the 1998 draft.
Syracuse, N.Y. ― Syracuse native Jai Smith told Syracuse.com on Friday that he had agreed to play for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA’s summer league in Las Vegas. Smith, a 6-foot-9 forward, spent the past year playing for Overtime Elite; a pro league for players who aren’t yet eligible for the NBA and don’t want to play college basketball. The league is based in Atlanta.
Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair said he didn’t believe the analysis that Iowa’s Keegan Murray, the Kings’ first-round pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, has a “low ceiling” as a player. McNair pointed to Murray’s numbers last season. He averaged 23.5 points last season, fourth-best among NCAA Division I players.
