LaMelo Ball's debut season continues garner acclaim as the Charlotte Hornets guard was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team on Thursday after also winning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. Ball and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards were the only players named on all 99 ballots from sportswriters and broadcasters. Those two were joined by Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton, Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bey and Houston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate on the first team.
LaMelo Ball said he always expected to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award. But his expectations weren’t able to contain his excitement when he first found out. It’s probably something I’m never going to forget,” Ball said Wednesday night.
The NBA Draft Lottery is Tuesday, and on Thursday the Charlotte Hornets got their first chance of the offseason to scout players who they might choose to select in next month’s draft. The Hornets hosted six players Thursday at Spectrum Center for pre-draft workouts as they try to find the missing pieces that can help them make the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.
