There were a lot of incredible candidates for the 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, but make no bones about it: Golden state Warriors forward Draymond Green was the most deserving. Monday night Green was announced as the Defensive Player of the Year during the NBA’s Awards Ceremony. In a year in which the Warriors were coming off a 73-9 season, and after an offseason where they added Kevin Durant, Green’s importance to the team was never overstated.
Wizards star John Wall wants Paul George in a Wizards uniform. He told Marc Spears of ESPN's the Undefeated that he's been lobbying the Pacers All-Star to ask for a trade to Washington. George has made it clear to Indiana that he will not stay with the team once he becomes a free agent next summer. While his reported preference is to become a Laker, Wall seems to have sensed an opportunity to build a contender for the Eastern Conference crown in Washington. Miles Simon, who has been coaching with USA Basketball for the past three years, has been hired by the Los Angeles Lakers as an assistant coach, the team announced. Simon played with the Orlando Magic in 1998-99 and then played oversees and in the CBA. Simon was the coach of the 2017 USA Junior National Select Team for the Nike Hoops Summit, leading Team USA to a victory over the World Select Team. Simon won gold medals as an assistant for the 2016 USA Men’s U17 World Championship Team, as well as the 2015 USA Men’s U16 National Team. He was an assistant at his alma mater, Arizona, under college coach Lute Olson from 2005-08. Simon was the 1997 NCAA tournament's Most Outstanding Player after
