But which of those players will make the biggest impact, and which teams will look the most improved? Which 2017-18 NBA squad will make the biggest leap? It’s too early to know, of course, but below is my take on the 10 NBA teams that improved the most this offseason. 10. Denver Nuggets The Nuggets found themselves in a precarious position with Danilo Gallinari. The stretch 4 is a valuable piece in the modern NBA, and people loved him in Denver. Veteran assistant Bob Weiss has been hired by the Denver Nuggets, creating an opening on the Charlotte Hornets’ coaching staff. Weiss, 75, was hired on coach Steve Clifford’s first staff in 2013, primarily as a resource with NBA head-coaching experience. Following a long playing career, Weiss coached the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers in the 1980s and ’90s. Clifford said Saturday he would like to replace Weiss with an assistant of similar lengthy experience, possibly someone who has been an NBA head coach.
