Free agent negotiations around the NBA were allowed to begin Thursday at 6 p.m., but Kevin Durant’s trade request was the league’s biggest story on the first day of free agency. What will happen on Friday? Updates will be posted here throughout Day 2:
Q: Ira, I feel that for the most part your opinions are spot on, but with regards to Victor Oladipo, you really have been way too dismissive of his upside. You thought (wrongly) he’d be a non-factor in the playoffs and you now suggested that Caleb Martin is the more important piece moving forward. If Oladipo returns to form, he’s an All-Star.
Orlando Magic center Moe Wagner’s $1.88 million salary for the 2022-23 season became fully guaranteed Friday since he was still on the roster past Thursday. Wagner’s 2022-23 salary, which is part of a 2-year, $3.61 million contract he signed with the Magic in August 2021, was non-guaranteed through Thursday. He’ll be eligible for unrestricted free agency during the 2023 offseason.
