    UCF basketball hires new assistant coach Vince Taylor

    UCF coach Johnny Dawkins hired Vince Taylor to fill the vacant assistant coach position left by Wake Forest bound Jamill Jones, the school announced Friday. During the Knights’ Charge On Tour last week, Dawkins said he planned to move quickly on shoring up his staff. Taylor previously worked at Texas Tech under Tubby Smith from 2013-16. Coincidentally, Taylor will be competing against his former boss as Smith was named Memphis’ new head coach in 2016. “I’m truly excited to have this opportunity,” Taylor said. “Johnny Dawkins embodies what is good about college basketball and I can’t wait to work with him every day.
