Kevin Love

Draft: Undrafted
  • The Cavs did not declare if Kevin Love (head) is in the concussion protocol on Friday night.
Advice: This is important to note because if he's in the protocol, it'll be really tough for Love to play in Game 7 due to all the testing. Love hurt his head in the middle of the first quarter, was ruled out for the game at half, and the Cavs didn't provide much of an update at all after the game. Considering Love had two concussions since 2016, it's possible he's out. That would mean Jeff Green likely starts with more Larry Nance.

  • Kevin Love (concussion) has been ruled out for Game 7 on Sunday.
Advice: He was just placed in the concussion protocol, and it would have been almost impossible to clear that if he is still dealing with symptoms at this time of day. Love does have a history of concussions with his most recent one coming in March, so it's possible he would be out beyond a possible win on Sunday. It should be Jeff Green starting with more Larry Nance. Tristan Thompson may also have to play a little more in this game.

  • Kevin Love (head) has to undergo additional tests on Saturday and said that his status for Game 7 on Sunday is a "toss-up."
Advice: The Cavs have not yet officially announced if Love entered concussion protocol on Friday night. If he did, it highly unlikely he will be cleared by league doctors in time to play Game 7. Per ESPN, the next stage of the evaluation process won't be possible until Love has a night's rest. We should have an update by Saturday afternoon.

  • Love has been placed into concussion protocol and has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 7 in Boston.
Advice: Love and Jayson Tatum inadvertently collided midway through the first quarter of Game 6. Love, who missed a March 28 game at Charlotte with a concussion, immediately raised his left arm as if to signal he needed help.

  • Kevin Love (head) has been placed in the NBA's concussion protocol.
Advice: He hasn't been ruled out yet, but it'll be really tough for him to be out there on Sunday. He first has to be deemed symptom-free, and then would have to do non-contact activity while remaining symptom-free in the process. Plus, he's had two concussions in the last three seasons. For now, expect to see Jeff Green start on Sunday with more Larry Nance, who closed out nicely in the fourth on Friday.

  • Kevin Love (head) went to the locker room in the first quarter on Friday.
Advice: Jayson Tatum's left shoulder caught Love in the head and he called for a sub right away while he was on the ground. He was down for at least a minute and had the training staff look at him. After he got up, he went to the bench first to sit down, and then went to the locker room. He's likely getting a concussion check, so we'll have an update shortly.

  • Kevin Love (head) has been ruled out for the rest of the game on Friday.
Advice: He is being evaluated from a concussion and has been out since the middle of the first quarter. Love had a concussion back in March, had another one back in the 2016 NBA Finals, and has a history beyond that, too. Luckily for the Cavs tonight, Jeff Green and Larry Nance have stepped up. That'll continue tonight while Love is questionable to play on Sunday.

  • Kevin Love scored 14 points with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Cavaliers' loss to the Celtics on Wednesday.
Advice: The Cavaliers just didn't have it tonight, and Love was no exception. He may have been the only player to join LeBron in scoring double digits, but he grabbed a series low seven rebounds and the Cavs were -23 when he was on the floor. He and everyone else will have to step up if they want to win the next two games and keep their season alive.

  • Kevin Love had nine points shooting 3-of-12 from the field with 11 rebounds and three assists, but also had six turnovers and five fouls in the Cavaliers' Game 4 win over Boston on Monday.
Advice: Love was limited to 28 minutes due to getting five fouls early on in the second half. He also tied a season-high with six turnovers. He'll have to improve on his 3-of-12 shooting if the Cavs are going to pull off a road win. Love did have a highlight full court pass to LeBron that he dropped on a dime past multiple Celtics defenders.
