Almost three years ago to the, um, year, Deadspin's Will Leitch set out to salute the most outstanding blogs for each NBA team. He called it "Blogdom's Best." So cute. But a lot has changed in the last few years - Ballhype, Blog World, RSS feeds! - so we here at Ball Don't Lie have decided to take a second look. This morning: the best Orlando Magic blogs.
The Orlando Magic is a small market with a big market payroll, boasting a middle of the road record alongside legitimately top o' the mountain expectations. They're also back to the pinstripes. Guh.
The team's selection of blogs has no such ups and downs. Consistent, consistent, consistent. They make Joe Morgan, and me, quite happy.
3. Magic BasketBlog - Just about everything you could ask from a beat guy's (in this case, Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel) blog. Extra snippets from columns, solid posts, and a good read. It's great to see these newspaper guys give their blogs more than a lick and a promise.
2. Orlando Magic Blog - I really like the contributors on this site, brevity is a strong point sometimes, and these guys offer quick and sharp analysis while not getting too desperate or heavy-handed with the subject matter. This blog is often overlooked, and shouldn't be.
1. Third Quarter Collapse - Ben Q. Rock is an absolute wunderkind, and one of the best writers and blog purveyors out there. That's important. Not only can he run things while keeping the posts interesting and the links and quotes worth reading; but the man can write, write, write.
Easily one of the best of the bunch, and certainly worth all the kudos you see on the left side of his blog.
If you would like to nominate a specific team blog for selection, let us know right here.
