Kobe's red shoelaces

I've had a couple Ball Don't Lie readers email today to ask why Lakers star Kobe Bryant(notes) was wearing bright red shoelaces with his white and purple sneakers against the Hornets on Tuesday?

Being the Internet sleuth that I am (please stop laughing), I did some extensive research (checked my RSS reader) and came across this lil' nugget of information at The Orange County Register.

Kevin Ding explains that the red laces look was a nice gesture by Bryant in support of World AIDS Day.

The venture was part of the Nike(Red) fundraising effort to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Done and done.
