Last year, the Boston Celtics had one of the highest over/under win totals in the lead-up to the 2018-19 NBA season. However, they failed to live up to expectations fell well short of their projection.

This year, expectations aren't quite as high, but their win total may still surprise some.

Jeff Sherman of SuperBookUSA recently released the latest win total projections for all 30 NBA teams. And in the latest batch of projections, the Celtics are slated for 49.5 wins.

On paper, this number may look lofty. After all, the Celtics were only able to emerge with 49 wins last season despite playing with what was believed to be a more talented roster than this year's group. The losses of Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, in particular, might scare some away from this.

That said, the Celtics have done a good job of infusing the team with new talent. Kemba Walker will be joining the Celtics and should be a great replacement for Irving. Walker is one of the league's premier scorers and averaged 25.6 points per game last season. He is also considered to be an all-around great guy, so he could help repair some of the chemistry issues that plagued the team last year.

Beyond the addition of Walker, the Eastern Conference has also gotten considerably weaker with the departure of Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Toronto Raptors won't figure to be quite as strong as a result, so that could aid the Celtics in their quest to win 50 games.

Really, what this all will boil down to is chemistry. If Walker can play along with  Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown better than Irving did, the team will have a chance to get 50 wins. That's what makes this a fair number. It will be interesting to see how much this projection changes throughout the lead-up to the season.
