He may only be a part-time player, but Kyrie Irving’s importance to the Brooklyn Nets was undeniable on Wednesday night in Indiana, as he scored 22 points in his season debut and the Nets pulled away in the fourth quarter to snap a three-game losing streak.

The Pacers led by seven points to open the fourth quarter, but a Patty Mills three gave the Nets a 107-106 lead, and Irving then hit back-to-back shots to widen the gap. In all, Irving scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth, and the Nets outscored the Pacers 35-20 in the quarter to leave Indianapolis with a win.

Irving will now have to miss two home games before the Nets make a trip to Portland for the start of a two-game road swing on Jan. 10.
