NBA Twitter reacts to Kenrich Williams’ extension
The Oklahoma City Thunder extended Kenrich Williams to a four-year, $27.2 million extension on Monday.
Williams has grown into a fan favorite player that also has fans inside the team. Williams’ teammates and coach constantly spoke glowingly about him throughout his first two seasons with the Thunder.
The reaction to Williams being locked up with the Thunder for the next five seasons was generally a positive one as he has proven to be an undrafted gem that signed a relatively cheap deal that is easy to move if needed to.

Kenrich Williams was considered a throw-in on the Steven Adams trade.
Now Kenny Hustle looks to be a long term player for the next era of competitive Thunder basketball.
OKC also used the other big asset in the Adams deal, the 2023 Denver 1st, this summer to land Ousmane Dieng.

Kenrich Williams' deal (4yr/$27.2M) is actually ridiculous.
Most 3-and-D vets (Covington, Tucker, Danny Green) will make $10M+ next year.
Williams' deal is $6.8M/yr if on flat salary.

In the run-up to last year's trade deadline, I think it became clear that Kenrich's value to OKC was always going to be much higher than what he could return in a trade. Obviously, he's still on a very tradeable contract, but I'm hopeful he stays in OKC long-term.

Kenrich Williams was an undrafted free agent who got a second contract solely to match salary in the Steven Adams trade between OKC and NOLA.
