The Brooklyn Nets very nearly threw away another win at home on Saturday afternoon against a short-handed San Antonio Spurs team, but rookie Cam Thomas emerged as the overtime hero as he hit a game-winner in the final seconds to snap the Nets’ five-game losing streak at the Barclays Center.

The Nets led by nine points to start the second half, but the Spurs erased their deficit with a strong third-quarter showing, outscoring the Nets 38-31 in the period. In the fourth, a clutch three from Joshua Primo tied the game at 113-113, and Kevin Durant missed what would have been a game-winning three at the other end to end regulation.

In overtime, Dejounte Murray missed a shot that would have given the Spurs the lead in the final minute, allowing the Nets to take a timeout and draw up a play for the final possession. The Spurs sent a double-team at Kevin Durant – who, instead of elevating and forcing a tough shot, passed to Thomas, who blew by a defender and hit a tough running floater with 1.4 seconds remaining.

Here’s what fans and analysts were saying after Cam Thomas hit a shot to beat the Spurs in overtime.
