Point Guard

Cory Joseph - Detroit Pistons (vs. Los Angeles Lakers)

Along with the value in Cunningham and Grant, Cory Joseph is likely to start if Hayes cannot. I wouldn’t expect much of a ceiling from Detroit’s backup point guard but at close to the minimum salary, he can open a lot of lineup options through salary flexibility. Remember, this is a small four-game slate. The slightest GPP play can affect your overall placement in the standings. Joseph has averaged 30.5 MPG over his last two games. His totals were 20.5 & 29.3 in these outings. Don’t expect massive totals but I’d project him to hit 6-7 times salary at a DraftKings price of $3,200.

Other PG Option: Russell Westbrook

Shooting Guard

Cade Cunningham - Detroit Pistons (vs. Los Angeles Lakers)

Cade Cunningham is a very talented isolation scorer. If Hayes and Stewart end up hitting the bench, I’d expect Cunningham to compensate in the scoring department and Grant to compensate in the rebounds/big man department. On such a small slate, getting this first game right is very important. If Detroit can keep this game close, Cunningham and Grant will have massive ceilings. Both players have been hovering around 10% rostership despite massive usage and potential. If you think Detroit can stay in this, Cunningham and Grant are must-plays for your lineup.

Other SG Option: Saddiq Bey

Small Forward

LeBron James - Los Angeles Lakers (vs. Detroit Pistons)

LeBron James is available tonight as the Lakers set to face the Detroit Pistons. Anthony Davis has officially been deemed probable. Now that this news is in, we can officially invest in the Lakers. Los Angeles is favored by -7.5 points with a 211.5 O/U on Pointsbet.com. Assuming the Lakers have their big three (which it looks like they will), I am confident in a dominant performance by LA. The Pistons could be without Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes tonight. As of now, both players are questionable. The first question that you need to ask yourself before constructing daily fantasy lineups for tonight is, do I think the Lakers will blow out? Or do I think the Pistons can keep this game close? With Detroit’s current injuries, if they can stay within arms reach of the Lakers tonight, Grant and Cunningham will undoubtedly perform. Cade Cunningham could be a very lucrative play if Hayes and Stewart hit the bench.

Power Forward

Jae Crowder - Phoenix Suns (vs. Denver Nuggets)

Jae Crowder is another player who could potentially benefit from Jokic‘s absence. If Jokic sits, I don’t see Denver having the personnel to keep up with a 12 - 3 Phoenix Suns team. Because of this, Jae Crowder would be a clear benefactor (along with Ayton). Defensively, Crowder protects the boards through blocks and rebounding abilities. Offensively, he hangs around the three-point line waiting for the kick out. This style of play will benefit him and the Suns in a match-up against Denver (with Jokic potentially out).

Other PF Option: Aaron Gordon

Center

Deandre Ayton - Phoenix Suns (vs. Denver Nuggets)

This is a very tough slate to plan for (and write-up for that matter). We have four total games, with the first game starting two hours before the remaining three. Because of this, you will see high roster percentages for tonight‘s first game in Los Angeles versus Detroit. A beneficial strategy could be to utilize the late swap feature on DraftKings and FanDuel by holding off until 8 pm ET. Nikola Jokic is questionable for tonight’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns. If he does hit the bench, Deandre Ayton could be the play of the night. Phoenix is already - 8 point favorites with Jokic question. If scratched, Ayton will benefit from a better matchup, increased rebounds as well as more overall usage on the offense. Frank Kaminsky is out as well, meaning Ayton should have all the minutes he can handle.
